Surprise Back At Me!

So last Sunday I was sitting in my office, working on the computer and attacking Eric (he kept tickling me all done because I called him "punk" as a joke and I HATE to be tickled) when all of a sudden I see this woman run up to the door w/a baby, ring the doorbell, drop the baby off, and run. I realized this was my sister, Susan, from New Mexico. What the heck!?! I run to the door to see my almost 2 year-old niece, Ella, looking up at me. My sister, who I had surprised last weekend, showed up to our house. It was their Spring Break and they decided to come visit for the week. I was so shocked and happy. The best part is we are going to their house this Saturday for Kala's Spring Break, so we get to see them 3 weeks in a row! She stayed at my dad's because he has the most room, but we hung out almost every day. I got to babysit Ella, who is definitely turning 2 this month but I still love her! They stayed from Sunday-Friday. Alyssa & Jamison stayed the night one night at my house and after Mahkala went to bed a few nights, I went and hung out with Susan at my dad's. We watched Twilight three times. The last time we skipped to our favorite places, "Get in the car!" Oh I love that part. "Ello" That's Susan's fav. part. Shockingly, I didn't take any pics while they were here until the last morning. I was very disappointed in me. I'm usually very good about that. I'll have to make up for it when we visit next week. I was so happy they came. It totally changed my whole week and I didn't do all I had planned, but who cares. It was the best surprise ever! Now I need to figure out how to one-up her when we show up on Saturday.

MYTH #2

Another thought I had when I decided to stay home was that I would spend a lot of time reorganizing the house, cleaning out drawers & cupboards, and getting rid of anything excess we don't want or need. LOL Nope. I don't think I've done that once. Oh well.

Twilightpalooza

As most of you know the movie "Twilight" was released on DVD this weekend. Well the kids in our family are obsessed. Technically speaking Taylor is beyond obsessed but you get the point. We let them have a Twilight party in honor of the DVD-Twilightpalooza (according to Mahkala). Friday night Eric took them to Borders from 10pm-12am for a release party where they played games, did a treasure hunt, etc. At midnight they bought the movie on ITunes for their Ipods. Eric went and got the movie at 9 am and they watched it all day! Saturday night they each had over 2 friends for the party. We had pizza, chips, Twilight candy, chocolate fountain, Twilight bracelets, Twilight posters, and a Twilight game. I believe the last ones to bed were Mahkala & her friend, Kassidy, at 3 am. It will be early bedtime tonight. They had fun and listened to music and hung out. Finally this afternoon around 1, I sat down and watched Twilight. I had already seen it once in the theater, but I decided why not. I like the movie but the books are far superior. Eric even teared up at the end. He'll deny it but those who know him best know the truth!

Myth #1

Every once in a while I think about staying home vs. working. I really do love being home but I laugh at some of the ideas I had when I worked. So randomly I will posts myths about staying home vs. working (based purely on my experience). These are tasks or things I thought I'd do when staying home because of all the free time I was going to have (that's another myth we'll get to later).

Myth #1-

I will work out almost every day (bike, run, walk the dog, exercise DVD, etc) and my body will be in rockin' shape by summer/swimsuit season.

LOL I can't stop laughing.

Say What?

As we sat in the Phoenix airport on Sunday waiting for US Airways to find us a new plane, that's what we were told, Mahkala, Kim, & I read, listened to music, and watched the nearby TV. They were broadcasting the shuttle take off. I have the quote of the week....
Me "Hey Mahkala Look. The space shuttle is getting ready to take off in 10 seconds"

Mahkala "Oh cool. Where are they going?"

Me (about 5 seconds of silence) "Ummmmmm space!" LOL I laughed so hard as did Kala.

She then told me she meant what planet but I still found it very hilarious! She's a silly girl and I love her.

Surprise

This past weekend Mahkala and I went on a surprise trip to New Mexico to visit my sister, Susan. My sister, Kim, had planned her trip a month or two ago. She was going to visit Susan and her family for 4 days. A week before the trip, Kim asked if Kala & I wanted to go too. Well of course!! We decided not to tell Susan and surprise her. When we got off the plane we let Mahkala go ahead. When she walked through security she walked straight to Susan, who wasn't even looking at her. She was waving at Kim. Kala was practically 4 feet from her when she realized she was there. It was so funny! Kim had told her she was bringing a surprise from Fresno, but Susan thought it was like a food surprise (something Fresno has but New Mexico doesn't). We had a lot of fun. I love visiting Susan and her family. I hate that they live so far away. They used to live here, then Modesto, but now it's 2 states away ): I even flew on 2 planes to see her...thank goodness for Valium! We ate out so much, went shopping, watched Jamison play his soccer game, and played with the kids. We even got to hang out with Alisa, one of Kim's best friends from junior high. SHe lived here in Clovis, but now she lives like 10 minutes from Susan in Albuequerque with her husband and 4 boys. There were a lot of kids around! I was sad I didn't get to see my friend, Sara, who also recently moved to Albq. What's up with all our friends moving near Susan? No fair!!!! Luckily Kala & I are going back in 3 weeks for spring break, which we planned months ago. We're driving this time. I can only take so many plane rides in one year. We didn't want to go. I tried to convice Kala to stay and Susan would home school her but to not avail. Oh well...we did miss Eric, Soy Sauce, & Brownie. We'll be back soon, Susan, for more bonding. I wonder who we'll bring with us this time (:

Puppy Love!

I just returned home from running a few errands and I found Brownie and Soy Sauce lying in the same bed together, napping! Such cute brother & sister. If you notice the white fluff all around them....that's Soy Sauce's new bed they tore apart this morning while I was at the grocery store. Eric will be so excited to clean it all up. Naughty puppies! (Sorry the pic is blurry...I took it through the window so I wouldn't wake them up and I guess I need to wash my windows!)

Mahkala's First Film

We bought a new computer this weekend and Mahkala quickly learned how to make movies. She should be in drama.

I DON'T SHARE!!!!!!!!

I'm all for teaching our children good morals and behavior, but not when it comes to girl scout cookies. MINE ALL MINE!!! *Since press time one of the thin mint boxes met its doom while I watched tv this afternoon* and I believe I beat you Susan in purchasing more than you!!

Scrapbooking

I can't say all that I've achieved recently but for some reason I think I've been busy! Today I was productive and scrapbooked 10 pages when my friend, Alison, came over. I was planning on going to the grocery store for some much needed food, but she called and asked if I wanted to scrapbook. Well OF COURSE. That's so much more fun than spending my money at the grocery store. So we are still out of food and who knows what's for dinner but I got 10 pages done. Yay me. I have been working on Cousin Book #3 (kala's cousins). I am on cousin # 7 of 9 Jamison. I had fun doing his pages. I'm not the best scrapbooker in the world nor am I really that creative. I figure better to do something than not at all. Here are a few examples of his pages...
