Quick Summer Revamp

Mahkala asked to move back into her old room (AKA my new office). She wanted her own room, even if it meant a smaller space. We agreed but we said we were not going to paint the room! GOODBYE office :( It's okay...we made it work. Once we moved her back, we added a few things here and there. Eventually, it turned into a remodel. A Paris theme started to come out, which turned to new bedding, a shopping spree to Hobby Lobby (the closest one is 45 minutes away), and a few more decorations. Voila--Welcome to Mahkala's Paris Get-A-Way!

Summer (In a Nutshell)...so far

I LOVE summer. I do NOT enjoy the idea that it's halfway over :( We are having a lot of fun and I don't want it to be over anytime soon. Get ready for pic overload. This summer has been filled with: many lake trips, a day at the beach, trip to the Sequoias, tons of fireworks on the 4th (Eric's favorite behind Christmas lights), Kala went to DC/NY for a week, Taylor went to band camp @ U. of Oregon, an impromptu trip to NM to visit my sister and family, and a lot of swimming and relaxing! SUMMER IS OUR FAVORITE :)

SUMMER IS HERE!

Thus ends another school year and the journey begins for high school :( Kala had 5 friends stay the night before the last day of school. We BBQ'd and make crepes in the am. They did what teens do best: goofed around, ate junk food, walked around the neighborhood, read magazines, and watched a movie. They stayed up until 1 am then woke up laughing at 6 to get ready for school. Taylor's party is tonight because she had to play at last night's graduation. It's my first day of vacation and I'm ready for a nap!! Mahkala leaves Sunday am at 2 am for a week in DC/NY with a bunch of friends from school (it's not a school field trip...it's through a group called Worldstrides). She is very excited. I'm going to force her to take tons of pics since I won't be with her. I'm sad thinking about it! Here's to a great summer!!!!

Me Crafty? Not So Much

I have never in my life been a crafty person, however I saw this on my friend, Krysta's, blog and I HAD to do it!! So after texting her a bunch and making Eric take me to Kinko's, we came home with the supplies and made this. No--this is not my handwriting. My handwriting is horrific (my poor students). Eric wrote everything down as we brainstormed what we'd like to do. If you'd like to know how to make it, go to the "These Are the Days" blog on my list of blogs I love and check out Krysta's instructions. I'm sure she'll post hers and it'll probably be way cuter! She is super-crafty and talented. This is my one project for the year, however I do plan on using Christmas paper in December to write down cute requests for Santa (the pen is a dry-erase marker). Enjoy! 6 more days until Summer Break!!!!!!! *If you click on the pic of the entire frame, it'll show it much better*

April Highlights

April was a busy month, but there were several highlights: Spring Break, going to see Wicked, and Kala's cheer tryouts. Here are some pics from Wicked (which was AWESOME!) and stressful tryouts (which she made--YAY!). May will be even busier with Mother's Day, a sister shopping trip in SF, and Eric's mom's wedding. It also means school is almost over :)

Cheer Awards

Tonight was awards for Kala's school cheer. We teased her over and over that she wasn't going to get one because she missed half the season for gymnastics (which she did get an award!). She laughed about it too. It was fun to go and see them all dressed up and beautiful. Next year is high school cheer :( I wish she'd stop getting older. It makes me so sad. I also told her to quit being so beautiful. I don't want those boys around her! Good thing is she's strong, so she can beat them up if need be.

Maybe Next Time

Eric=MEGA SUPER HUGE STEELER FAN...Super Bowl Party @ our house! Neighbor Mary is a huge Packers fan=tons of trash-talking between the two. HILARIOUS!! Add some ribs, delicious treats, chips, salsa, soda, and other family and friends and you get a very fun Super Bowl Party. Too bad Eric's team didn't win. He owes Mary a case of beer!

Love & Friends

As Kala does more and more with her friends, I am reminded of friends from my childhood. The best friends I had and STILL have are Krysta, Sara, & Jennifer. I'm very grateful I had such great friends growing up, especially since they were good friends who always had my back and were a good influence on me (can't say I was for them!). Even though one lives in Texas and another in New Mexico, we still chat like we live by each other. I'm very lucky that Jennifer now lives back in Fresno and I get to see her! I'm grateful Mahkala has a great group of friends (Sara, Sarah, Kassidy, and Megan) who are so sweet, friendly, thoughtful, and (knock on wood!) good influences. They call themselves Cinqo and are so adorable when they get together. Recently, they met at Megan's house before the school Valentine's Day Dance. The pic is from my iPhone, so it's not the best quality, but they are adorable.

What a whirlwind of a weekend...anniversary dinner and night away on Friday night and big Super Bowl party yesterday. Eric is handling the loss pretty well! We had a great time on Friday night. It'll be 3 years on Wednesday and I'm very lucky to have Eric as my husband. I'm not going to get all gushy and stuff, but I LOVE YOU ERIC!

Stepping Stone for Eric

Tonight is the Winter Formal for Clovis North. Taylor decided to go with a group of friends, which began a whirlwind of limos, dresses, necklaces, shoes, bracelets, hair, make-up, and ,yes, thong shopping. Easy for me, but let's just say Eric was approaching a new stepping stone in his life. He dealt with it quite well and he only shed a few tears! It was a lot of fun to plan the whole thing and we've never seen Taylor so excited for a school event before (especially one that involves wearing a dress and heels). They went off in a limo for dinner, then to the school for the dance. It should be a fun night! Kala is already planning what she'll wear next year.
