Kala had her first gymnatics meet in Sacramento this weekend. It was so much fun! She was nervous, but she used that energy to pull together some good routines. She scored 9.1 bars (2nd place), 8.55 beam (3rd place), 8.7 floor (6th place), and a 8.85 on vault. Total she earned a 35.2 all around which earned her 3rd place! Plus her team won 1st place. It was wonderful to watch her and we are so proud of her! I kind of like it better than her cheer competitions too It's quieter and we get to watch her compete multiple times rather than sit around then watch for 2 minutes then sit around. I was a horrible mom and forgot the video camera and my good camera. Then I realized my small, purse-sized camera had a dead battery. Go mom! Luckily, I have an iPhone. The pics aren't as great but it's better than nothing. Her next meet is in 2 weeks in Elk Grove We can't wait!

Well it's back to school. I survived my first week (with the help of Tylenol PM). I was having a lot of trouble sleeping, which is weird since I was exhausted. I love weekends even more during the school year. Monday is Mahkala's 1st day of 8th grade and Taylor's 1st day of high school. I'm too young for all this! Pics will be posted soon...

Day 2-Cheer Camp I was lucky enough to be able to drive for 3 days of cheer camp. I go back to work tomorrow-joy. I am also lucky to have great friends who will take the last 3 days of camp for me since I'll be off at school. Doesn't Kala look tiny next to her friends? She's about 45% for height and weight for her age. That's been typical since her birth. Actually, she was in the 20% for height when she was younger so she's growing!!

I know I probably say this every single year, but how in the world did she get to 8th grade!?! Today is the 1st day of cheer camp. They have camp for two weeks before school begins. I vividly remember 8th grade...she cannot be in 8th grade. I can't take much more :( I really wish she was in 2nd grade and would stop getting older.

So Eric wins the award for best hubby ever. He surprised me with a lot of great stuff for my bday...none of which I expected. I knew we were going on a trip to the beach, but he picked a great spot and we had a lot of fun (see previous post). I already mentioned he bought me an iPad, which I love. It's difficult to tell it's an iPad in the picture because of the glare but believe me it's an iPad! Well to top it off, tonight he invited over my entire family (those in town) and has a bday dinner for me. I had no idea! Plus he brought out the most gorgeous cake that was DELICIOUS. I love red velvet cake. OMG so good. Thank you so much, Eric. His bday is next month...guess I have a lot to live up to!
One of my goals for the summer...weekly blogs. LOL Well I failed that goal! I did many other things I wanted...fix up the backyard, remodel the girls' room, catch up around the house, go to the beach, shop for new clothes, see tons of movies, sleep in, read tons of fun books, and spend time with my family. The other goal I had was to cook dinner most nights. That makes me LOL as well. I've come to the realization that I'm not a cook nor shall I try to be. I have improved on how much we spend when eating out. I have reverted to an all cash system. I pay bills via check then my grocery and misc. money I pull out of an ATM. Once it's gone, it's gone. This made me realize very quickly how much I spend. The first 2 weeks I tried it, I ran out very fast! Yay for credit cards. So I'm on my 3rd trial of all cash and it's going much better :) I go back to work a week from tomorrow. WHAT!?! I know! It's crazy. I long for the days when school started the day after Labor Day, not 3 weeks before. It's too hot and it's still summer! Oh well--I'm lucky to have a job, good benefits, and the most vacation time of any other profession I know. So here are some pics from recent trips: day trip to Carmel with the kids to eat at Bubba Gumps and play on the beach and a bday trip to Santa Cruz (sans kids!) where we walked the boardwalk, relaxed on the beach, ate at some delicious restaurants, and I received an iPad for the big 3-2. How did I get this old!?!
